  Trading Forum Rules
Posted by: wheeloftime13 - 06-24-2020, 06:40 PM - Forum: Trading - No Replies

Hello everyone! A lot of trading is going on and it's great when people can find what they are looking for. Now, we don't want trades to get lost in the Trading Forum and it's becoming a little cluttered with all the random trading posts, although some order is being attempted by users trying to have their own thread for all their trades. However, as the site grows-- meaning more users-- each user having their own trading thread will become difficult and more chaotic. To keep things more organized, the Trading Forum will have specific trading threads depending on what people are looking for. To help maintain this order, I will be cleaning the Trading Forum (please close any currently available trades you have in the trading forum so they can be re-posted depending on where they best belong. Below I have listed the approved topics, but I will edit it as we work trading threads out and new breeds are released. If you have an idea for a new trading thread, please contact me to check if it is okay to post. Breeds will be assigned trading threads depending on what scientific Class they belong to (ex: Cielarka Cimo belong to the Invertebrate class and would therefore be traded in Invertebrate Trades). To help people figure out which breed belongs to which class, I've made a list found at the bottom of this post. Please no gifting requests.

1. Genderswap Hub- only for seeking a gender swap of any breed
2. Creatures for Sale- only for users looking to trade any creature(s) for gold
3. Rares Trading Hub- for trading rares (currently just girafos and selos)
4. Invertebrate Trades- trading those found in the Invertebrate Class
5. Mammal Trades- trading those found in the Mammals Class
6. Feline Trades- trading those found in the Felines Class
7. Reptile Trades- trading those found in the Reptiles Class
8. Avian Trades- trading those found in the Avian Class
9. Fish Trades- trading those found in the Aquaria Class
10. Amphibian Trades- trading those found in the Amphibian Class
11. Wishlist Trades- for users who collect specific things and are willing to trade for them
12. Gifting Hub- for users who would like to gift gold or creatures
13. Current Holiday Release Trading- only for the current holiday release, spoilers likely
14. Halloween Creatures Trades- trading Halloween creatures released during the Halloween Event
15. Solstice Creatures Trades- trading Solstice creatures released during the Solstice Event

  The Monochromes
Posted by: BlueLatios - 06-22-2020, 08:46 AM - Forum: Site Discussion - Replies (77)

Monochrome: a photograph or picture developed or executed in black and white or in varying tones of only one color.

Welcome to the Monochromes Thread! This thread is just a side quest of adding any monochrome creatures that exist in The Final Outpost! Post your Monochromes here, and if unsure, ask around whether your creatures are monochrome. (I am just one person in the community, it is unfair for me alone to decide what's monochrome and what isn't.) As a guideline, if it looks like it has mostly one color, feel free to share! The reward is not much except for a spreadsheet full of monochrome creatures :3

Because of the colors, I have created some random team names for the creatures. For example, creatures with color that's mostly red would be categorized into team "Fiery Red". Have fun :D

I may need help with team names, feel free to suggest them haha

OUTPOST #1 – BULLETIN #59 - ADDENDUM
PRIORITY: NON-URGENT
PURPOSE: REMINDER
SUBJECT: ENCOURAGING EXERCISE
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
Attention all scientists!
This is a friendly reminder that we should all be making time to exercise daily. Sitting at a workbench or in front of a computer all day isn’t healthy. Strengthening our bodies helps strengthen our minds, so grab a water bottle and head to the nearest fully equipped gym—or even venture outside! Summer is approaching, and it’s bringing lots of warm, sunny days with it. Perfect for a stroll around the outpost or even down to the nearby lake (see attached trail map for directions).
I know some of you may be rolling your eyes right now, but perhaps this incentive will encourage your participation in our wellness initiative: for every hour of exercise logged on your smartwatch, you will earn one point. Fifty points can be turned in for an extra serving of dessert! Or, if you have an aversion to sweet things, you can turn it in for an extra serving of salad. Or boiled peas. Whatever strikes your fancy.
As we strive toward scientific breakthroughs, let’s also strive to break a sweat now and then. Together, we can build a brighter and more healthy future.

An important note: With this release we've reached what I consider to be our "base creature set".  The release pace will slow down a bit from now on.

  Show Off Your Fluganta Ratos!
Posted by: Mathcat - 06-13-2020, 03:40 AM - Forum: Site Discussion - Replies (32)

Since I currently have the largest flock, I figured I should be the one to make this thread. Fluganta ratos might not be as flashy as saltantas or cielarka cimos, but they do come in some lovely color variations.

[Image: Oom4D.png] I like the contrast of the black with the white neck ring.

[Image: rbDTH.png] The neck and tail really stand out against the white body.

As someone with an avid love and obsession with those ever so fluffy Saltantas, I demand to see everyone's!

Lavender salts and Silver salts are my favourites, would love to know everyone elses.

These are my favourite babies-

This is a thread like the one for the butterflies, except for Tagalos!
Not for clicks or trading, just some snake appreciation.

I'll start with these no-marking beauties:

Lightbulb LATI: Simple Program to Help Genetic Research
Posted by: BlueLatios - 06-07-2020, 07:44 AM - Forum: Site Discussion - Replies (51)

Update: 4 September 2021
I will no longer be updating this as it seems this tool is only for those who are willing to go through the effort to add creatures to make sorting them and finding breeding pairs much easier. With the command-prompt type interface that not many people are used to, I will continue updating this only for myself. If anyone still uses LATI, message me so I can update "format.txt" file. And if anyone wants to try a GUI interface version of LATI, I'll see what I can do with my basic coding skills.

The programs can be found here! (Alternatively, Ubuntu/Linux users can download the programs here.) Note that you must download the file format.txt and place it on the same folder as the LATI (and Genetic String Converter) for both programs to run.

Basic requirements:

Create a folder named creatures on the same folder as the LATI program, and make sure format.txt file is in the same folder. Afterwards, it can be run immediately.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello! So I thought I'd make this thread, as I have a bit of programming knowledge that allows me to do things in the Final Outpost slightly faster, but I want to share it to you Google Sheets enthusiasts if they can be of any help.

LATI

[Image: Screenshot_from_2021-01-27_11-44-56.png]

Probably my favorite program I've created, LATI (Lab Assistant Tool Interface) is a user-friendly program that, although requires you to input the creature data (you can directly edit the textfiles as well, the program is able to show which genes are possible from a selected breeding pair, as well find pairs that can produce the desired genetics and the chances an offspring from them produce such genes.

LATI is entirely command prompt style and fully text-based.

Update (26/02/2021):The latest version has:
~Changed how adding creatures work. Since their genes are now in their view page, you can now triple-click the string and copy paste everything in!
~Some code rewriting, and help text rewriting to adjust to changes.

It has not been extensively tested for bugs, so any bug report would be appreciated!

Request for generation tag is not added because it would make adding creatures a bit more tiring than it already is. Instead, create multiple folders such as "1G", "2G", and so on, and place a copy of LATI, as well as format.txt and an empty "creatures" folder in each of those folders. Hope that works!

More info on them can be found in the program's help menu!

--------------------------------------------------------------

Other old programs:

Genetic String Converter

[Image: Screenshot_from_2020-07-02_16-33-00.png]

The string on the Lab Notes genome discovery feature can be fully copied into a text file and the program can be run to read the text file and convert them into just genetics as shown on the bottom right. The spaces in between are tab spaces, which will be fully compatible with Google Sheets (just copy the whole thing and paste it!). I used to copy the genes one by one, but with this program, I have definitely saved a lot of time and made my work in the other thread of mine more than twice as fast.

Update: now it requires full name, seperated by underscore (_) symbol.

Manual Inbred Checker

[Image: Screenshot_from_2020-06-10_20-04-31.png]

Add creatures through the program (or by editing the textfile itself) and then you can check whether two breeding creatures cause inbreeding or not. All creatures in a pedigree should exist in the files, else the program cannot conclude whether a pair causes inbreeding or not. Basically, just a manual check with the help of a program, so not very useful.

For the other programs:

Prepare a folder named files on the same folder as the Genetic String Converter program, as well as format.txt. Afterwards, run it through the Command Prompt (you can click on the folder's address bar, type cmd and hit Enter to run Command Prompt there.)

Prepare a folder named pedigree on the same folder as the Inbred Checker program. Use Command Prompt, same as above.

Feedback are always appreciated, and questions are welcome! :D
