A Glimpse Into the Upcoming Schedule |

How is it the end of August already?! As Starbucks breaks out their pumpkin spice and my local grocery store is gearing up to put out their Christmas food selection in a few days, I realized that maybe it would be good to give you an overview for the next few months. Since TFO is so new, the community doesn’t have the advantage of tradition and so communication must fill that gap.
- There will be one more normal release in September. Not going to spoil anything there!
- Your Halloween creatures will start to breed more successfully on the 1st of October. They will peak on Halloween before fading back down.
- Halloween creatures from previous years (in this case last year) will drop in the cupboard and be available in the splicer from early-to-mid October until mid November.
- New Halloween creatures will appear sometime around halloween and will drop for a generous amount of time.
- At TFO we want to have the cycle of one larger holiday event a year and the rest on the smaller side. Last year Halloween was the big event and this year we expect it to be smaller.
- Not going to spoil too much about November, but the Black Friday sale will come back in the genome splicer on November 26th!
- Winter Solstice breeding starts on the 1st of December and will peak at Christmas before fading back down.
- New Winter Solstice creatures will appear sometime around Christmas and will drop for a generous amount of time.
- We are hoping that the Winter Solstice event will be the larger event, but we have to see how it works with everyones schedules
- Winter Solstice creatures from previous years (in this case last year) will drop in the cupboard and be available in the splicer from early-to-mid December until mid January.

OUTPOST #1 – BULLETIN #109
PRIORITY: URGENT
PURPOSE: ANNOUNCEMENT
SUBJECT: PREPARING FOR COMING VENTURES!
Attention all scientists!
Warm weather and good spirits certainly fuel our outpost’s expeditions, and we are currently struggling to keep up with equipment requests. Please keep in mind that all rentals should be returned in a timely manner so that those on the waiting list can move forward with their own plans.
All plans for field expeditions should be submitted at least one week prior to departure unless extenuating circumstances exist. Special permissions are available on a case-by-case basis.
Best of luck and safe travels to all of you field researchers! May you bring back plenty of exciting new data for study!
This questline is a two-parter with a one-week waiting period between each section. Choose your path wisely.

We are pleased to introduce two new staff members to the community!
pinkgothic
pinkgothic will be joining the team to help out with the coding behind the scenes. I don't want TFO to get into a situation where I am the bottleneck for everything and I am extremely grateful for the help. Right now we are currently focus on rewriting a lot of the old code that hasn't aged gracefully in order to continue to offer more quality of life updates and improved game play in the future. pinkgothic asked me to mention that they aren't always available on discord but if you really need their help their info is available in their signature.
Zeyhxi
Zeyhxi will be joining the mod team for the forum! We are all grateful for the extra help in bringing more organization and offering support to users where needed!
Thank you so much to both of these new team members and please join me in welcoming them to the team. :)

OUTPOST #1 – BULLETIN #107
PRIORITY: URGENT
PURPOSE: ANNOUNCEMENT
SUBJECT: NEW SPECIES DISCOVERED
Attention all scientists!
Not one but TWO new species have been discovered by Iris Evada, C. Roote, and Coral M. Mui! For the next few days, capsule production for these new species will be increased, making them easily obtainable from the cupboard in the common room.
We have not yet had time to gather and prepare the related field notes for wider distribution. Your help in observing and recording data on these new species will be invaluable!
These will flood for 48 hours before joining the normal rotation.

Just something I had been wondering for a while. Forgive me if some quest text answers this question somewhere, but has it been revealed yet exactly what it was that killed off humanity in this setting? I was assuming it was nuclear war, but if that was the case, wouldn't exploration-related quests also make note of radioactive environments and the potential sickness it could cause? Also, for an irradiated wasteland the world our scientists explore seems pretty lively, with lots of plant and animal diversity. A lot of quests just seem like we're going on fun little nature hikes. For that matter, where did all these new species come from? A few hundred years isn't really enough for this kind of evolution.
I'm guessing that the creators of the game are purposefully avoiding going into seriously-dark territory in order to keep the site friendly for younger players, but if Outpost One is the only surviving enclave of humans, I can't help but feel our scientists would be dealing with some existential dread, as well as the knowledge that any friends or family they had before they went into cryostasis are dead, and possibly died horribly at that.
