Later this afternoon (approximated 16:30 server time), the site will be unreachable for approximately 30 minutes.  The site will be totally down, not even a maintenance page.  This is because we are upgrading our server resources to hopefully ensure a smoother experience.  What is important to know is there is no DNS change, so the site will be immediately available after the downtime.

So I've noticed that everyone seems to be labelling their generations weirdly?
Normally, when you're breeding animals (bugs, snakes, whatever), & you have the progenitors (the 'parentless' individuals) of a lineage, they would be labelled Generation 0, & their offspring would be labelled Generation 1. But here everyone just calls the parentless individuals Generation 1. I might have to re-label (improperly by normal standards) all of my parentless creatures as 'G1' now.

Not really trying to do anything with this, I just had to 'rant' somewhere about it for a bit.

Dear scientists!

As you may have noticed, server performance has not been the greatest in recent weeks and months (Hello, Resource Limit Reached).  Therefore, we have decided to change the site to a new provider, which is supposed to make user experience much better and allow us to have greater control over the server environment. Unfortunately, this change requires us to put the site in maintenance mode during the move.

The move is planned for February 19th 2023 starting on or around 16:30 server time (10:30AM EST) and we estimate it to take a few hours to be finished. Also, for technical reasons (namely DNS propagation) it might take a few hours for finaloutpost.net to correctly lead to the new server. While we will try to get it changed asap, some things are not in our hands.  So to put it simply, you may not be able to reach TFO for up to 24 hours.

Also, due to the technical nature of such a migration, you will need to log back in again into the site on the new server, so please make sure your credentials are in order so you'll be able to continue to using the site without issue.

Please be advised, while we'll try our best to avoid them, bugs are likely to appear after the move. Please report them in the bug report forum if you encounter any, thank you!

ALSO, THIS IS NOT YET THE RECODE!! We initially planned to move after the recode is done, but the pain with the host became too big, so we decided to move asap with the old code.

Heyo all! I'm Taurn. Fairly new to the game and thoroughly enjoying it so far. As an attempt to both offer something useful and interact with fellow scientists I concocted this thread.

Kind of like a market thread, I figured you could post your projects and what you may be looking for to achieve it. I haven't seen a thread like this yet and since you're limited to five creatures at a time in the market this could be a good way to move through that sales tab.

In the same idea of thinking I also really like to see what kind of projects people are working one. What wacky genetics get thrown and so on!

To kick this off I'll list some critters I'd either like or something close to that I can attempt to breed for. I'll start easy and delve into some harder to obtain.
-Avka Felo: Solid body colors, examples would be black, grey and gold. Or any of the colors with no markings. My project is to have each color with each fin type. While G1s are preferred I won't be picky.
-   This specific Monta.
- Koi variant Viral and really any matching body and tail or tail and wings.

One of the most requested features is the ability to change usernames.  This is actually a feature that is already coded in the recode we are working on!  Unfortunately it is not so easy to manually port that code into the current site.  As a short term solution, I am now opening up the ability to request a username change.  This is not an ongoing offer, but a one time thing.  You will be able to request a username change until the 19th of January.  Username changes that are granted will then happen over the following days.  Your old username will still be displayed on your /visit page for up to six months.
